What is video to game?

Video to game is the process of turning a gameplay video or a written game idea into a small game you can actually play. VideoToGame (videotogame.org) does this in two stages: an AI video model first renders a short gameplay clip of your idea, then a coding model reads that clip and writes a complete browser game in JavaScript and Three.js that runs on any modern device without installing anything.

The video step matters: it pins down the art style, camera and movement before any code exists, so the finished game looks like the clip instead of a generic template. If you already have a clip, the builder skips straight to writing the game.

How it works

  1. Describe it or paste a video

Write a sentence or two about the game you want, or paste a link to a short gameplay clip. Pick a game type and the controls you want.

  2. We render a gameplay video

If you start from an idea, an AI video model renders a 10-second gameplay clip first. It fixes the look, the camera and the moves before any code is written.

  3. The video becomes code

A coding model studies the clip and writes the game: player controls, collisions, scoring, levels and sound, in plain JavaScript and Three.js.

  4. Play it, change it, share it

Open the game in your browser, ask for changes in plain words, and share the link. The game is a standard web page you can keep.

Games you can make

Small, single-player games with clear rules work best. Pick one of these in the builder, or let it choose from your description.

Platformer
Run and jump across ledges, collect items, reach the goal.
Endless runner
Dodge obstacles at rising speed and chase a high score.
Top-down shooter
Move, aim and clear waves of enemies in an arena.
Puzzle
Push blocks, match tiles or route paths with clear rules.
Arcade racing
Steer a car or ship through a track against the clock.
Physics toy
Stack, launch or knock things over in a small sandbox.

What it won’t make

  • Large open worlds or long campaigns. Games stay small enough to run in one browser tab.
  • Photorealistic graphics. Expect clean 2D or low-poly 3D.
  • Online multiplayer, player accounts or in-game purchases.
  • Copies of existing commercial games or their artwork.

VideoToGame vs. real-time world models

World models like Google’s Genie draw every frame live while you play. VideoToGame takes the other route and writes the game as code.

Questions

What is video to game?

Video to game means turning a gameplay video, or an idea that is first rendered as one, into a playable game. VideoToGame uses an AI video model to render the gameplay and a coding model to write the game itself, so the result is a real browser game rather than a video.

Can I turn my own video into a game?

Yes. Paste a link to a short gameplay clip and describe what the player should do. Clips of simple 2D or arcade-style games work best; the builder recreates the mechanics and look in code, it does not copy the original game files.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe the game in plain words and ask for changes the same way. If you do code, the game is plain HTML, JavaScript and Three.js that you can read and edit.

What kinds of games can it make?

Small single-player games: platformers, endless runners, top-down shooters, puzzles, arcade racing and physics toys. It is not meant for large 3D worlds, online multiplayer or photorealistic graphics.

How long does a build take?

Each build waits in a queue first; your build page shows your place in line and every step as it happens. We also email you the link when the game is ready.

How is this different from Genie and other world models?

World models generate every frame live on a GPU while you play, which looks impressive but can drift and cannot be saved as a game. VideoToGame writes a normal game in code, so the rules stay consistent and the game runs on any device after it is built.

How much does it cost?

Plans start at $19 a month for 400 credits. A game built from a text idea costs 130 credits, a game built from a gameplay video costs 220 credits, and each edit costs 40 credits. Credits are only used by builds that finish.

Who owns the games I make?

You do. The code generated for your build is yours to use, change and publish. Don't upload videos you don't have the right to use.
